Down the Tubes

Alasia was travelling around the world all month, which can mean only one thing: time for another office prank!  This one involved a quick trip to Office Depot and a huge number of Post-it squares.

Back in Tune with my Zune!

While waiting for the box to send my Zune in for repair, I’ve been testing it each morning.  This morning, it miraculously turned on!!  Ironic, since the box should arrive today (was scheduled for yesterday, but FedEx is dumb and couldn’t figure out where we lived).

Good news – now I don’t have an excuse to get that iPhone anymore!

It’s Getting Chili In Here!

Cakes, etc. 1 Comment »

Last night we hosted the (first annual?) 2008 Ultimate Chili Cookoff. There were about seven different chilis entered in the contest yesterday. Paul won best meat chili (with David at a close second) and Sue took first on her delicious vegetarian chili.

As usual, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bake another cake…

I ran out of time to do a scratch recipe, but added a touch of cayenne pepper to a Devil’s Food box mix, mmm.  To get the rounded bowl shape I simply, well, baked it in a Pyrex bowl!  The “beans” and “cheese” on top are a mix of Boston Baked Beans (candied peanuts), cinnamon hots, Raisinets, and yellow-dyed coconut flakes.

Our [Rock Band] band, The Plastic Frets (formerly known as “The Middles”) has entered in a Rock Band competition at work as part of the 2008 MBD Giving Campaign!  In order to be considered, we had to submit something artistic to show that we are in it to win it.  Here is the resulting video:

It’s missing some really good footage of us playing a Surface Piano and rocking out in a crosswalk, but I think it does a great job getting our name out there.  Thanks to Darshan for helping us put that together!
